There was quite a commotion over the HTC Desire not getting a Gingerbread update and due to that; HTC finally announced that they will do so. How will they do it, or what will they have to sacrifice for bringing Gingerbread has not been mentioned as of now. But apparently Telstra, an Australian service provider is deciding to exclude HTC’s Sense UI completely to make space for Gingerbread.
Gingerbread makes more Sense!
That definitely sounds like a good idea, because HTC Desire users will get Gingerbread goodness out of the box. However, that’s a step which Telstra will take and we are yet to know how many other countries will actually bring the Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire smartphones.
The HTC Sense UI in itself is one of the few interface options that actually work well and are easy to use. But even then, using Gingerbread out of the box can be a lot better than running most UIs on a smartphone. Guess we’ll have to play the waiting game and hope that users around the world will get the best of both (or, maybe one) worlds.
