E3 2010 was a complete bummer. The whole focus of last year’s expo was on motion controlled gaming which meant actual gaming took a back seat. This time hopefully things will change but even if they don’t, here’s what we would like to see at E3 2011.
Where will Grand Theft Auto V take place?
Where will Grand Theft Auto V take place?
West West yo
You, me, heck even your grandma knows Rockstar is working on Grand Theft Auto V but the million dollar question over here is where will it take place? Fans are torn between heading back to Miami (Vice City) and Los Angeles (San Andreas). But whatever it be, I sure hope Rockstar at least officially announce the game this year. Also it wouldn’t hurt to show Agent off as well. It’s been AWOL since nearly two years now.
Hitman 5
Assassin's Creed
It’s been too long since I’ve smartly assassinated someone as Agent 47. Ever since Blood Money, developer IO Interactive has been real silent (har) about the Hitman series, concentrating instead on mediocre IPs like Kane and Lynch. But now all that’s behind them we do hope, the bald assassin returns at E3 this year. Methodical killing FTW!
Thief 4
Shadow man
It’s no secret that the Thief series was instrumental in shaping the stealth genre as we know it today. Sadly ever since 2004 (which is when Thief 3 was released), this series has supposedly gone underground returning briefly in 2009 when Thief 4 was vaguely announced. Here’s hoping we get something a lot more concrete at E3 2011.
Is God of War 4 real?
How many of you were thoroughly depressed with the fact that God of War III marked the end of the God of War saga? Well it seems all those sleepless nights and cold showers in the night may have paid off in a way as Sony may be working on a new God of War game. These rumors are to be taken with a pinch of salt – obviously, but I suggest stocking up on tons of clean underpants, just in case chaos rises once again at E3 2011.
NGP in action
What is the NGP capable of?
I admit I’ve been intrigued with the NGP ever since it was announced earlier on this year. A handheld device as powerful as the PS3 that even boasts of a solid control scheme? Sounds too good to be true. I hope Sony use E3 2011 as a platform to not only showcase this bad boy in all their action but announce some games for it as well.
Doom 4
I know, developer id’s been busy with Rage but it’s been far too long since we’ve heard anything on Doom 4. Ever since its announcement in 2008, id have maintained complete radio silence from their end. Is it a prequel? Is it a sequel? Will it take place on Earth? Come on id, don’t leave us hanging.
Half-Life 3 and Counter Strike 2
Where are you Freeman?
After the sheer brilliance that was Portal 2, it’s really tough to be angry with Valve but it’s been four years and no word on Episode 3 or Half-Life 3. That’s being a bit cruel to your fans Gabe. Also would you be so kind as to go ahead and announce Counter-Strike 2. You know, the world’s most popular online multiplayer shooter at one time that’s probably still being played in cyber-cafes across India?
HD Remakes
World needs more HD remakes
HD Remakes of older games is actually a pretty cool idea. This way the new crop of gamers can play through some of the older stuff – with improved visuals – and see what the fuss was all about. Besides the God of War collection, no studio has really put an effort into re-releasing some of their older stuff in high definition. We really hope more studios come forward with new remakes at E3.
Battlefield 3 MP Footage
Need moar MP footage
Since Battlefield 3’s been announced, all we’ve seen is single player footage. And trust me, I’m not complaining but I’d like to see some multiplayer action. You know, stuff the series is actually famous. And if DICE announced a date for both the MP beta as well as the final game that would be real swell too.
What is Burnout Crash?
Traffic checking FTW!
Yes Criterion, we need to know what Burnout Crash is. Is it just a game revolving around the crash mode that was axed from Paradise or is it a full-fledged Burnout game? Also for the love of God, remove free-roaming from your games. I play Burnout to race with reckless abandon; I really can’t be bothered with following road signs.
So I guess that about exhausts my wish list for this year’s E3. Do let us know what you’re looking forward to at the world’s biggest gaming expo that’ll kick off by the 6th of June 2011 in Los Angeles, California.
