Google’s Internet Bus project was introduced to create Internet awareness to the masses across the length and breadth of the country. It was introduced in 2009, and since then, the bus has traversed acorss 11 states, including Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The Google Internet Bus project now enters Kolkata, West Bengal and is said to run through Uluberia on December 2, followed by other regions of Haldia, Purulia, Asansol, Durgapur, Behrampore and Chandannagar, reports Times of India.

"We had begun the internet bus back in February 2009 and now the bus will tour the state. We hope to create awareness about the internet as we believe that continuous efforts will enable the common man to utilize the knowledge," The bus usually targets first time users, public places and also schools. Google India director Vinay Goel disclosed.
