Google doodles for the holidays


Google has a doodle for the holiday spirit, up today. When clicked, the search performed is for "Happy Holidays", a neutral greeting fashionable to make during this time of year. The doodle intends to celebrate various holidays that take place, around this time, including Christmas, New Year, and Hannukkah. However, the major symbols present in the doodle, primarily represent Christmas. The doodle is representative of the lights that celebrants of Christmas usually adorn their yards with, this time of year. The lights, include a snowflake, Santa, a bell, a snowman, a candle and a present with the Google logo etch behind the objects.

Google has been putting up doodles for Christmas, a few days before Christmas. Last year, they put up their holiday doodle on the 23rd of December, which comprised of a series of greeting cards. However, in 2009, they put up their holiday doodle on Christmas day (December 25th), itself. Google first started doodling for the holidays, back in 1999 (December 25th, 1999) where they replaced an 'O' with a snowman and set him a top a snowy mountain
