Sapphire HD 7950 and HD 7950 OC Edition graphics cards launched


After expanding its motherboard line-up recently, Sapphire Technology has now added new models of graphics cards based on graphics GCN (Graphics Core Next) architecture from AMD - HD 7950 and HD 7950 OC Edition. The Sapphire HD 7950 models claim to be the second family of graphics cards to feature latest GPU’s from AMD crafted with new 28nm process. They’ve been optimized with new GCN graphics processing architecture. The HD 7950 GPU features a new internal structure with 1792 Stream processors and a 384-bit high speed memory interface with over 264GB/sec memory bandwidth.

The standard model comes with a core clock speed of 810MHz with a dual slot, single fan cooler. The high performance HD 7950 OC Edition, factory overclocked to 900Mhz with new dual-extractor technology Dual-X. It brings in an efficient multi-heat pipe cooler with dual fans for quiet and cool operation. Both models feature 3GB array of the latest DDR5 memory with effective clocks of 5GB/s. Sapphire has also introduced a new version of overclocking tool, TriXX. It enables tuning of GPU voltage, along with core and memory clocks, while continuously displaying of temperature. It provides manual control of fan speed and users can save four different performance settings. The OC edition has the second BIOS pre-programmed for maximum overclock and an aggressive fan profile. The HD 7950 is ready for DirectX 11.1 and the new Windows 8 operating system and optimizes communication with the host PC by implementing latest high speed PCI-Express Gen3.0 interface, multiple cards can be used in CrossFireX mode on a suitably specified mainboard.
 
The HD 7950 supports working on multiple monitors with AMD Eyefinity and supports DVI, HDMI and two mini-DisplayPort output. Fast HDMI (with 3D) supports Stereoscopic 3D with frame rates of 60Hz per eye - 120Hz total and claims to be ready for next generation of 4K displays.  The HD 7000 series is optimized for APP acceleration as well. The Sapphire HD 7950 and HD 7950 OC can be procured through established channel and retail partners. It is available at a starting price of Rs. 33,999.
