Game through the Apocalypse
Avideo game store might be hard to find in a post-apocalyptic world so it would help to stock up on games that provide tons of content right out of the box to ensure that you stay entertained for a long time. Here are a few suggestions.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
Bring it on troll
Bring it on troll

Skyrim boasts of so much content, it literally borders on MMO territory, only it’s offline and there’s no monthly fee. You could blaze through the plot in a few hours, sure, but why would you when you could spend hours exploring the beautifully crafted game world by taking up a profession like smithing, mining or alchemy, get married, join one of many guilds, clean out its many dungeons or just hit the open roads in search of fame and fortune.

Just Cause 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
Cos I'm free, free falling
Cos I'm free, free falling

Just Cause 2 is an open-world action game that throws logic out the window in favor of good old fashioned over-the-top fun. How else can you explain a grappling hook that allows you to latch onto a plane, hijack it, and then jump out to surf on it! Besides the balls to the wall action, the game throws in a ton of side quests that allow you to enlist yourself with various factions to liberate the fictional world of Panau.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
Welcome to Liverty City
Welcome to Liberty City

GTA IV was a huge game, but Rockstar decided to take things to the next level by announcing Episodes from Liberty City, which includes two single-player expansions - The Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony. These were then bundled with the main game to form the GTA IV Complete Edition. While both expansions are largely similar to GTA IV, they both bring a bunch of gameplay, visual, as well as multiplayer tweaks to the table, making this pack a must-buy for any GTA fan.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
Army of four
Army of four

Set in a bleak, distant future, Borderlands was the world’s first RPS (role-playing shooter), a term coined by developers Gearbox themselves. The game was a shooter at heart, but packed in content equivalent to an RPG, making it accessible to both fans of both genres. The GOTY edition is obviously the one to go for as it includes the base game in addition to four packs of DLC.

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
Who doesn't love exploring a post-apocalyptic wasteland?
Who doesn't love exploring a post-apocalyptic wasteland?

The apocalypse is generally not a very pleasant experience unless, that is, you’re experiencing it from Bethesda’s perspective. Like any of their previous games, Fallout 3 is literally teeming with content, be it through its plot or a plethora of side quests. Once again, the GOTY edition is the version to grab as it includes all five packs of DLC released till date. Another incentive for PC gamers comes in the form of tons of user-made content that’s available free of cost.

Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition (Xbox 360, PS3)
We love Rockstar's Wild West
We love Rockstar's Wild West

With Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar dragged us down to the Wild West, a genre not visited too often in games. And we loved it. The game offered players everything they’ve come to expect from a Rockstar game - a stellar plot, well written characters, tons of distraction in the form of side activities, and of course, solid gameplay. The GOTY edition packs in a ton of map packs as well as a very interesting ‘undead’ take on the game. It’s a pity the game never made it to PC.
