Galaxy Ace S5830I gets Android 2.3.6 update

The Galaxy Ace (model number S5830I) is reportedly getting the Android 2.3.6 update, as Samsung has finally set a few balls in motion to update its older devices. As reported by Android OS, the update for the Ace is available for download via Samsung’s dedicated software, Kies.Like all other updates, this one will be distributed to Samsung Ace customers in batches, so you’ll have to be a little patient, if you still haven't received the update for your phone.
2.3.6 coming!
2.3.6 coming!

The Galaxy Ace getting 2.3.6 may be a good deal for some, but the phone in itself does require a major price cut, because it’s competing with the likes of the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman phone and the Spice Mi-350n, in terms of specs and pricing, respectively. The Mi-350n that we reviewed earlier did particularly well in all departments and comes at a relatively more affordable price of 7.5k, as compared to the 14k price tag of the Ace. The S5830I model does have a better camera and a few more features, but the price jump is almost unrealistic.

On the other hand, the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman seems to be a much better deal at 14k, because of its superior specs and also the fact that it will soon be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future. We’re hoping that Samsung’s next announcement is related to their older models getting a price cut of sorts.

Current users of the Galaxy Ace, however, do get the Android 2.3.6 update, so if you’re one of those having a Galaxy Ace, do let us know if the update brings in any major changes for your device.
